Guyana Together
Campaign Statement
Despite our differences, what unites us as Guyanese is far more than what separates us. Each person contributes to our national fabric, and that includes our lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender family, friends and coworkers.
Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people are a part of our communities and care for their families and friends, just like anyone else. And no member of anyone’s family should be treated differently because of who they are or who they love.
We are proud to be part of Guyana Together campaign and we support the call for a repeal of discriminatory laws that criminalise same-sex intimacy between consenting, adult men in private. All Guyanese should be able to live their lives openly and with honesty, without fear of violence, discrimination or arrest. No one should be criminalised because of who they are or who they love.
As a member of the “Guyana Together” campaign, we pledge to join the nationwide conversation about how each of us can help to make change to create unity for the Guyana we ALL love.
